We are a design studio based in California, Texas and Italy, where we engineer and produce all of Febo’s components. We work in direct contact with small artisans from the Northern Italy, that supply us with all the lenses, wood, packaging and cloth that make this little object a true testament to Italian craftsmanship and design.

We love simple ideas that resonate with the kid in all of us. We designed Febo to be a simple tool that could express creativity in an intuitive way. All of this while having fun in nature. When we launched this product on Kickstarter in 2015, we were amazed by how it was welcomed with great appreciation all over the world. Febo has grown into a very real community that appreciates our philosophy and supports our wish to make beautiful products that people can use to make timeless art!

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
JANUARY 2015
Febo is born from the imagination of three Italian designers that wanted to create an innovative tool for drawing based on the simple principle of a magnifying lenses ability to burn on a surface. Through testing and prototyping Febo is perfectly calibrated in its lens and shape, making solar engraving a fast and steady process.

KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN
JULY 2015
We developed a crowdfunding campaign to support the production of Febo and launched it on July the 7th, 2015 on Kickstarter. Lead by Atellani, the campaign reached its goal in less than five days and caught the interest of so many people that it ultimately exceeded its goal tenfold.

PRODUCTION AND INITIAL DELIVERY
NOVEMBER 2015
A first lot of 2000 pieces is produced in Italy and sent to the 1444 backers of the campaign in more than 50 countries. From that moment on, thousands of people all over the world are choosing Febo as a different tool to bring their art to life.

Six years apart from its first launch, Febo’s appearance is redesigned yet its core essence remains unchanged. Febo is still an intuitive engraver that can easily draw on hard natural surfaces.

We believe in the power of nature and art as forces that are able to spark a light in all of us. Febo represents our way of connecting with these two elements allowing anyone to create beautiful artworks that have lasting meaning to that person.
Why Febo?
INTUITIVE DESIGN
Febo is designed to be intuitive. Its semicircular shape allows the user to see and follow the lines of their sketch, facilitating the engraving process. This makes Febo suitable for any age, from children (supervised by an adult) to senior citizens.
SUSTAINABLE WOOD
All our timber is 100% ecological, coming from sustainably managed forestry projects. The natural resources of the forests where we source our materials are restored to keep the ecosystem thriving. Moreover, the sawdust and waste collected from the making of Febo are reused to fuel the factory’s internal heating.
HIGH QUALITY
The entirety of our production chain is based in Italy. Materials are selected to be durable and
safe, while quality controls on the assembly line guarantee high standards in quality. Febo is
made to last, and be recycled at the end of its life cycle.

ETHICAL PRODUCTION
We care about rewarding each person involved Febo the right amount. Febo supports Italian excellency: small companies of woodworkers, lense manufacturers and bag makers. We believe that crafting things the honest way is a form of art itself.
